Speaker: Rabbi Nasan Maimon. This halakha is based on Likutey Moharan 30.
00:00 – PARAGRAPH 12. The miracle of Chanukah took place through the kohanim. The light of Hashem‘s “Face” is received at the Beis HaMikdash on the three main holidays (Pesach, Shavuos, and Sukkos), while on Chanukah the Shekhina comes into our homes.
02:41 – PARAGRAPH 13. כי נר מצוה ותורה אור – “For a mitzvah is a candle and the Torah is light.” (Mishlei/Proverbs 6:23). The light of Chanukah results from the tochecha (rebuke) that reveals chessed (kindness).
08:59 – PARAGRAPH 14. The mitzvah of Bikur Cholim (visiting the sick).
16:31 – Chanukah and Purim are aspects of visiting the sick, because at those times the Shekhina (manifestation of Hashem) comes into to our homes, where we are suffering from exile.
24:09 – On Purim we receive the Torah anew.
*27:37 – PARAGRAPH 15. It is impossible to receive the light of Hashem’s “Face” except through giving tzedakah (charity).
33:09 – PARAGRAPH 16. Dispute between followers of Shammai and followers of Hillel about the lights of Chanukah.
39:15 – The dispute between the sons of Yaakov Avinu was caused because Yosef haTzaddik associated with the sons of Zilpah and Bilhah. The light of Chanukah is the light of the tzaddik who gives over his soul to bringing the People of Israel back to Hashem.
