Likutey Moharan 88 – Likutey Moharan 89 – Likutey Moharan 90 – Likutey Moharan 91 – Spiritual Purpose of Clouds – Tznius – Modesty Protects Blessing – Faith Expressed Through the Hands – Speaker: Rabbi Nasan Maimon. (Lesson 242. Recorded in 1981.)
00:00 – TORAH 088 – PARAGRAPH 1. הַֽמְכַסֶּ֬ה שָׁמַ֨יִם | בְּעָבִ֗ים הַמֵּכִ֣ין לָאָ֣רֶץ מָטָ֑ר – “Who covers the heavens with clouds, Who prepares rain for the earth…” (Tehillim 147:8). Why is the sky darkened with clouds before it rains? Yerida before aliya. Blessing comes through the tzaddik.
06:30 – PARAGRAPH 2. The tzaddik is in danger when he becomes known. Machlokes (dispute) for the sake of Heaven will arise against him to protect him.
19:24 – TORAH 089. וַתְּחַסְּרֵ֣הוּ מְ֖עַט מֵֽאֱלֹהִ֑ים וְכָב֖וֹד וְהָדָ֣ר תְּעַטְּרֵֽהוּ – “Yet You have made him slightly less than the angels, and You have crowned him with glory and majesty” (Tehillim 8:6). Tznius protects blessing. All human lack is a manifestation of a lack in the Shekhina – Divine Presence of HaShem. This could cause a person to feel sadness. The antidote is for the person to rejoice in awareness of this correspondence, which then crowns him with joy.
33:26 – Q&R – What are the mayim duchrin/nukvin?
*38:00 – TORAH 90. אָֽ֜נֹכִ֗י אֶשְׂמַ֥ח בַּֽיהֹוָֽה – יִתַּ֚מּוּ חַטָּאִ֨ים | מִן־הָאָ֡רֶץ – “…I shall rejoice in HaShem. Sin will be destroyed from the earth…” (Tehillim 104:34-35). Shattering of the vessels. Why do people feel a lack? Why do we need things? The main repair of deficiencies is to do mitzvos with simcha – joy. The gematria of eretz is 91 which is the milui of Elokim.
NOTE: Rabbi Zvi Aryeh Rosenfeld zal used to say that if a person would always be happy, he would never sin.
45:20 – TORAH 91. וַיְהִ֥י יָדָ֛יו אֱמוּנָ֖ה עַד־בֹּ֥א הַשָּֽׁמֶשׁ – “…and his hands were [held up] in faith until sunset” (Shemos 17: Beshalach). Lifting one’s hands after washing for eating bread, draws chokhma – wisdom – into the hands. Even our hands can express our faith in HaShem.
