00:00 – How do we fulfill the mitzvah of rejoicing on a holiday? A man performs this mitzvah through drinking wine, while a woman performs it by wearing new clothing. Midrash about how meat lost its true flavor after the destruction of the Beit HaMikdash.
03:54 – Advice given by Rabbi Akiva to his son, Rabbi Yehoshua: study Torah in a Beit HaMidrash – study hall. Knock before entering a home, even your own home. Never go barefoot but do not wear shoes to bed.
07:45 – Pas shacharis: always eat breakfast. “Breakfast without bread is not considered breakfast.”
09:10 – Meals on Shabbat should be at least a little better than weekday meals. Even if funds are limited, it’s important to eat fish on Shabbat.

28:45 – Advice of Rabbeinu HaKadosh to his sons: don’t live in a city where there’s too much senseless joking. Don’t go to sleep at night without saying Kriyas Shema al ha Mitah.
30:54 – Rabbeinu HaKadosh also advised to obey the laws of the land where one lives or travels through and to pay all taxes and import fees.
31:43 – Rav Papa advised being especially careful to wear shoes in a house where cats are found. Cats bring protection against snakes.
32:42 – Three types of young that should not be confronted: a young non-Jew, a young snake, and a young student.
33:54 – Business advice: sell merchandise as quickly as possible. Don’t package the item sold until after you have received payment for it.
35:44 – Rabbi Yochanan said that when going out to battle, stay near the back. This is a reference to “Better to be the tail of a lion than the head of a fox” (Pirkei Avot 4:15).
