00:00 – The Ushpizen – the Seven Shepherds of Israel who visit the sukkah. Reference to Likutey Moharan 22. There are two different orders of the Ushpizen. One is chronological, and one follows the order of the sefiros, which places Moshe Rabbeinu at the center. Breslov chassidim follow the latter order, therefore Moshe Rabbeinu is the Ushpiz of the fourth day of Sukkos, the 18th of Tishrei, which is the yahrzeit of Rebbe Nachman.
***02:50 – NOTE: Chiddush – “Uneshalma parim sefaseinu” וּנְשַׁלְּמָ֥ה פָרִ֖ים שְׂפָתֵֽינוּ – “…and let us render [for] bulls [the offering of] our lips” (Hoshea 14:3) Our tefilah substitutes for the korbonos. The letters of the word פרים correspond to the first and last letters of the words “Pirkei Tehillim”.
05:52 – NOTE: The Days of Awe is a time of Yirah – a midah associated with the lion. The word אריה – lion – is an acronym for Elul, Rosh Hashanah, Yom HaKippurim. Through serving HaShem with yirah, Am Yisrael merits His protection: Sukkos is a time of ahava – as in שְׂמֹאלוֹ֙ תַּ֣חַת לְרֹאשִׁ֔י וִֽימִינ֖וֹ תְּחַבְּקֵֽנִי – “His left hand was under my head, and his right hand would embrace me” (Shir HaShirim 2:6). The sukkah is a hug from HaShem.
06:29 – NOTE: The binding together of the Arba Minim represents the unity of Am Yisrael.
08:00 – NOTE: Every mitzvah is a revelation of HaShem’s Shekhina – and this is especially apparent in the mitzvah to dwell in a sukkah. In the word sukkah – the Samech and Hey (outside letters of the word) equal begematria 65 – gematria of HaShem’s Name A – D – N – Y. The inside letters – Vuv, Khaf – equal 26 – the gematria of Y – H – V – H.
09:30 – Closing blessings for Sukkos asking HaShem to protect Am Yisrael completely during this turbulent time and to bring the geulah sheleyma.
