Oreyv 2 – Oreyv 3 – Ki Seitzei – Yibum – Chalitza – Cosigner After a Loan Was Given – Ruach Nedivah Is an Aspect of Tzaddik – Dovid HaMelech – Malkhus – Tikkun HaRaglin – Spiritual Aspects of Feet – Men and Women Are Equal in Mishpat and Tzedakah – Ratzon – Yearning to Serve HaShem – Speaker: Rabbi Nasan Maimon.
Hilkhos Oreyv 2 is based on Likutey Moharan 10.
00:00 – PARAGRAPH 5. The main task in this world is to repair the “feet” of the soul, especially the “bottom of the feet”, by means of emunah. This is done by bearing/raising a son who will continue the tikkun haraglin, as in “The son is the leg of the father”. This tikkun is drawn through the ruach of the tzaddik, which flows into the hands and especially into the feet.
02:00 – The “feet” refers to the wife, as in “One should sell the beams of his house to buy shoes” (Shabbos 129a).
03:30 – “The heart lifts up the feet” – the heart being the ruach of the tzaddik. This repair of the ruach cannot be done in one generation. It requires many generations through offspring [and students]. Each individual takes part in the process of tikkun haruach according to his or her abilities.
06:00 – *A student is considered a son. Reference to 2likutey Moharan 7.
07:30 – Parshas Ki Seitzei. The mitzvah of Yibum – if a man passes away without children, his widow is supposed to marry his brother – וְנִגְּשָׁ֨ה יְבִמְתּ֣וֹ אֵלָיו֘ לְעֵינֵ֣י הַזְּקֵנִים֒ וְחָֽלְצָ֤ה נַֽעֲלוֹ֙ מֵעַ֣ל רַגְל֔וֹ – “Then his brother’s wife shall approach him before the eyes of the elders and remove his shoe from his foot…” (Devarim 25:9, Ki Seitzei).
08:30 – In the mitzvah of chalitza, the widow unfastens/removes the shoe of her late husband’s brother.
13:00 – Q&R If a man teaches a student this does not release the man’s widow from the mitzvah of Yibum. Q&R about Kinyan Sudar.
15:00 – PARAGRAPH 6. A cosigner after a loan was given does not obligate himself through speech, but only through kinyan.
19:20 – PARAGRAPH 7. The difference between an oreyv who was present when the loan is given vs. an oreyv who was not present: the lender has faith in the oreyv when the loan was given, so the ruach nedivah was activated through the oreyv’s presence. Regarding an oreyv who steps up to save the borrower’s life later on: “Reuven [the lender] ain’t feeling so generous to Shimon [the borrower who refuses to pay] this sunny day. He’s throttling Shimon!” The oreyv who says he’s take responsibility for Shimon’s loan under after the loan was given does not obligate himself with speech, as he would have if he had been present when the loan was given.
23:00 – PARAGRAPH 8. Dovid HaMelech, who is the bechinas malkhus/emunah. His whole focus in life was elevating the raglin, as in “My foot was on a secure path…” and as in לֹֽא־אָמ֥וּת כִּֽי־אֶֽחְיֶ֑ה – “I shall not die but I shall live…” (Tehillim 118:17).
27:40 – Ruach Nedivah is an aspect of the tzaddik. Reference to Likutey Moharan 10 – Borrower and lender are an aspect of Mordekhai and Esther.
30:45 – *Purim – Matanos Levyonim is an aspect of tzedakah, and Mishloach Manos is an aspect of giving a loan. When it comes to mishpat and tzedakah, the Torah applies equally to men and to women.
34:45 – HALAKHA 3. INTRODUCTION. This halacha will present a clarification of the word רצון – will, desire, yearning, appeasement. Hilkhos Oreyv 3 is based on 2Likutey Moharan 4.
27:40 – PARAGRAPH 1. “The most important thing is רצון – the will to come close to HaShem.” Looking forward to the next opportunity to do something for HaShem.
39:45 – Reference to Sichos HaRan: “All the desires of this world are nothing.”
40:00 – It’s crucial for a person to train themselves to want to serve HaShem. An angel has no ratzon. The only thing that man can give to HaShem is ratzon – desire to serve Him.
43:40 – *NOTE: The holy Baal Shem Tov said of his daughter, the grandmother of Rebbe Nachman, that she was an expert in continuously yearning to serve HaShem.
45:30 – PARAGRAPH 2. The ultimate goal of the perfection of the soul is the perfection of ratzon – yearning.
48:00 – Moshe Rabbeinu is the Torah – when he was nistalek, he rose to highest level of ratzon – “yearning to yearn” for HaShem. *The perfection of רצון is above everything else.
53:30 – The ultimate goal is to plug into HaShem’s desire, to become one with His will. Begematria, Moshe is 345, רצון is 346.
55:20 – Closing Blessings – being in Uman is to be in the place of ultimate ratzon where people are yearning together to serve HaShem.
