Speaker: Rabbi Nasan Maimon.
This section of Hilkhos Giluach 4 is based on Likutey Moharan 7.
00:00 – PARAGRAPH 11b. Spiritual Aspects of Clothing. The mitzvah of Tzitzis is a tikkun – spiritual repair – for all clothing.
04:23 – Clothing needs tikkun because it’s the outermost aspect of the soul and interfaces with the klipos – spiritual impurities.
07:03 – Women benefit from the tzitzis worn by her father, husband, and/or sons.
07:30 – PARAGRAPH 12. The prohibition of women wearing men’s garments, and the prohibition of men dressing as women. Generally speaking, truth is the arena of man and faith is the arena of woman.
14:00 – Torah concepts require garments.
20:30 – Reference to Gitin 43.
25:00 – The essence of all knowledge is truth. Reference to Likutey Halakhos, Orach Chaim 3, Hilkhos Pesach 7.
29:00 – אַל־יִתְהַלֵּ֚ל חָכָם֙ בְּחָכְמָת֔וֹ וְאַל־יִתְהַלֵּ֥ל הַגִּבּ֖וֹר בִּגְבֽוּרָת֑וֹ אַל־יִתְהַלֵּ֥ל עָשִׁ֖יר בְּעָשְׁרֽוֹ – “…Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom, nor the strong man boast of his strength, nor the rich man boast of his riches” (Yirmiyahu 9:22). The Baal Shem Tov HaKadosh on “Toras Hashem temima…”.
32:43 – לְכָל תִּ֖כְלָה רָאִ֣יתִי קֵ֑ץ רְחָבָ֖ה מִצְוָֽתְךָ֣ מְאֹֽד – “Of every finite thing I have seen the end; Your commandments are very broad” (Tehillim 119:96).
38:52 – כִּ֣י שְׁאַל־נָא֩ לְיָמִ֨ים רִֽאשֹׁנִ֜ים אֲשֶׁר־הָי֣וּ לְפָנֶ֗יךָ לְמִן־הַיּוֹם֙ אֲשֶׁר֩ בָּרָ֨א אֱלֹהִ֤ים | אָדָם֙ עַל־הָאָ֔רֶץ וּלְמִקְצֵ֥ה הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם וְעַד־קְצֵ֣ה הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם הֲנִֽהְיָ֗ה כַּדָּבָ֤ר הַגָּדוֹל֙ הַזֶּ֔ה א֖וֹ הֲנִשְׁמַ֥ע כָּמֹֽהוּ – “For ask now regarding the early days that were before you, since the day that Hashem created man upon the earth, and from one end of the heavens to the other end of the heavens, whether there was anything like this great thing, or was the likes of it heard?” (Devarim 4:32, VaEschanan).
*45:00 – Q&R about sources for Torah study and choosing a rabbi. “Learning from everyone is learning from no one.” Analogy of a person who’s lost in the wilderness and lost track of time; he needs to arbitrarily designate one day to perform the positive mitzvos of Shabbos. The tzaddik is an aspect of Shabbos.
51:15 – Closing blessings.
