00:00 – This shiur is dedicated l’ilui nishmas (for the elevation of the soul) of Reb Ozer b’Reb Alexander HaKohen Berger z”l, whose 14th yahrzeit was on the day this shiur was given: the 17th of Cheshvan 5781.
01:31 – PARAGRAPH 84. Parshios Ekev and VaEschanan.
09:06 – Moshe Rabbeinu’s defeat of Sichon and Og and the klipos empowering them.
14:44 – Could there be any enemy worse than Haman? Yes – theklipa personified by Zeresh (wife of Haman) causes a Jew to fear keeping the Torah.
17:34 – Gesher tzar meod – “The world is a narrow bridge.” The message to Yehoshuah was, “Don’t be afraid because Hashem is going to defend you.”
20:34 – Yehoshuah is the level of student, so he was given the encouragement not to be afraid. His name is composed from the roshei teivos (initial letters) of the verse: Yekumun VeYerannanu SHochnei Ahfor “Rise up and rejoice, those who dwell in dust.” (Yeshayahu/Isaiah 25:19).
25:59 – Parshas Devarim and Parshas VaEschanan: The greatness of Hashem is revealed through man, because the angels are not as powerful as the tzaddikim of of this world.
28:10 – QUESTION about being afraid. RESPONSE: A Jew is not permitted to put himself in danger.Tefilas HaDerech – prayer for traveling. Times when fear is appropriate: respect for one’s parents, respect for the holiness of a holy place.
30:32 – QUESTION what’s the difference between “yirah” (awe/respect) and “pachad” (fear of punishment).
32:21 – QUESTION about Moshe Rabbeinu’s defeat of Sichon and Og. RESPONSE: the klipos (opposing forces) that gave them strength are still operating in our world.
*33:45 – Parshas VaEschanan (continued). The tzaddik “rules over” Hashem. The word “tziyon” sometimes means gravesite, sometimes Eretz Yisrael, and sometimes the tzaddik. Moshe Rabbeinu’s plea to enter Eretz Yisrael because this is the place where the upper and lower worlds can be unified.
36:57 – Man was created by Hashem to be a “partner” in the creation, so man has creative powers that are greater than those of the angels.
38:59 – Why Moshe Rabbeinu pleaded to enter Eretz Yisrael.
43:15 – Joining upper and lower worlds is done through the revelation of Matan Torah.
*46:02 – Chiddush on VaEschanan heard from Rabbi Rosenfeld z”l. Reference to the Megalah Amukos. What happened to all of those 515 tefilos poured out by Moshe Rabbeinu? (515 is the gematria of “TeFiLaH”). Rebbe Nachman ben Feiga is b’gematria 516.
*52:53 – No tefilah of any Jew ever goes lost.

54:32 – QUESTION about the passing of a tzaddik.
*59:47 – CLOSING REMARKS. The greatest revelation of Hashem takes place in this world, the lowest one. Current events in light of Torah and tefilah and mitzvos.
*61:06 – Every geulah (redemption) is named after the tzaddik of its time. The word “gam” (also) hints at the Shekhina (Hashem’s Divine Presence in the lower worlds).
