NOTE heard from Rabbi Rosenfeld z”l: Kohen cannot serve if he has a mum (defect), but he can serve all his life, with no age restrictions. Mem vuv mem is begamatria Elokim. If a Levi has a mum, he can still do the avodah service in the Beis HaMikdash. A Levi becomes possul through age – they can only serve from age 30 to 50.
