2019-12-22 – LM1 – Torah 243 – Torah 245 – Reaching True Torah Innovations (Chiddushei Torah)

Speaker: Rabbi Nasan Maimon, Erev Chanukah 5780, Yerushalayim.
00:00 – TORAH 243. Shir HaShirim (Song of Songs) is so holy that its true meaning is disguised within words that seem mundane. This is similar to the concept of a tzaddik who is so great that he has to remain hidden from public view.
04:47 – Rebbe Nachman’s story of the “Prince of Precious Stones“. Question and response about hidden tzaddikim in our generation.
09:54 – TORAH 244. A person who does business with non-Jews needs to be very careful not to be spiritually harmed. Even the “fallen angels” were pulled down from their level when they were sent into this world.
14:51 – TORAH 245. The Torah has many “chambers” and when a person enters one “room” there are entrances to many other “rooms” from which he can gather new Torah insights. The Arizal describes some of the “yeshivas” that he visited, including the yeshiva of Basya bas Paraoh.
17:28 – Reference to Likutey Moharan 22 – “seal within a seal”.
19:30 – Description of the Heichal HaTemuros – “Chamber of Exchanges.” Reference to Rebbe Nachman’s story of the “Exchanged Children” as explained in Likutey Halakhos, Birkhas HaShachar 3. A person needs to be careful with creating Torah innovations.
21:28 – Reference to the Chayei Moharan about how Torah perceptions can be false.
22:26 – Reb Michel Dorfman z”l described to the elders of Breslov a dream in which he saw Rebbe Nachman and they verified the Rebbe’s appearance.
26:51 – “Zos haTorah – Adam…” (“This is the Torah – man.”)
30:59 – Account of the Arizal and Reb Chaim Vital.
33:53 – Verifying Torah innovations – Rebbe Nachman’s comparison of faulty chiddushei Torah to the advertising of a play.
39:13 – Parshas VeEschanan – Moshe Rabbeinu’s tefilah.
42:26 – The need to be very careful when studying kabbalah.
43:55 – Closing remarks just before lighting the first Chanukah light.
