00:00 – PARAGRAPH 1. ‘ואכלתם אכול ושבוע והללתם את-שם ה’ – יואל ב “Then you will eat and be satisfied and praise the name of Hashem…” (Joel 2:26) A person with uncontrolled desire for food is distant from the truth and beset by strict judgment and shame. Gaining mastery over eating merits the light of the face of Yaakov and the light of tefillin.
19:12 – PARAGRAPH 2. The praise of the Land of Israel is that its inhabitants eat bread not because of poverty, but because they have broken the uncontrolled desire for food.
25:28 – “Ve zeh pirush…” (this is the meaning of) “A land that consumes its inhabitants…” (Bemidbar/Numbers 13:32). Israel receives its bounty through its holy inhabitants: Yaakov.

“I will provide AiSeV in your SaDeh for your animals” (Devarim/Deuteronomy 11:15) Tikkuney Zohar 51: AiSeV (field) refers to the harmonious presence and blending of all supernal colors. This is the beauty and power achieved when a person overcomes the animal approach to food.*
38:57 – PARAGRAPH 3. Shame and poverty result from unbridled desire for food.
40:23 – PARAGRAPH 4. Eretz Yisrael (the Land of Israel) and its connection to the light of Yaakov’s face, and to tefillin.
42:03 – ראה חיים עם אשה – קהלת ט’
“Live life with an ishah” (Koheles/Ecclesiastes 9:9) also relates to tefillin which are called life. “Naphtali is a deer set loose…” – The name “Naphtali” contains the same letters as Tefillin.
44:16 – PARAGRAPH 5. A person who controls their desire for food merits the true wealth and satisfaction of Eretz Yisrael. They also merit the power of changing nature through tefila (prayer).
