Harshaah 3 – Harshaah 4 – Massei – Ekev – Lender – Borrower – Mishpat – Elevating Yirah Nefulah to Daas – Fallen Fears – Holy Acquisition Expands Consciousness – Spiritual Aspects of Travel – Tefilas HaDerech – How To Prepare for a Journey – Speaker: Rabbi Nasan Maimon.
00 – PARAGRAPH 20b. Lender and borrower – Mishpat in business transactions.
00 – Holy acquisition expands consciousness.
00 – PARAGRAPH 21. Spiritual aspects of travel: It’s customary, before going on a major journey, to receive the blessing/permission of a gadol. Traveling has dangers, and fear of these dangers is an aspect of Yirah Nefulos, meaning – the person is afraid of things other than HaShem.
00 – Tzaddik moshel. Reference to Likutey Moharan 34.
00 – Yiros Nefulos increase during traveling because one is transiting from one spiritual authority to another. The particular sovereignty of each of the 70 nations comes from HaShem. However, since HaShem’s power is cloaked in these nations, His presence is also cloaked, especially to the traveler. When there are multiple authorities, there is a potential for Yiros Nefulos.
20 – Traveling from one country to another presents increased danger of Yiros Nefulos. That’s why, before going on a major journey, a person should 1) pray for HaShem’s guidance and protection (Tefilas HaDerech); 2) seek and receive the blessing/permission of a Tzaddik. Through taking both of these steps, the traveler acknowledges the ultimate authority of HaShem and elevates the Yiros Nefulos to Daas so the traveler can proceed with joy and Bitachon.
***21:00 – Q&R – How is this blessing for travel acquired today? By contacting one’s rabbi and asking for his blessing/permission to travel. Rebbe Nachman recounted how, when a certain person went to his rabbi for a blessing to travel, the rabbi remained silent, so the student didn’t travel. It wasn’t until the rabbi passed away that the rabbi’s silence was understood.
36 – How to prepare for a major trip: the Shekhina HaKedosha goes before a person. צֶדֶק לְפָנָ֣יו יְהַלֵּ֑ךְ וְיָשֵׂ֖ם לְדֶ֣רֶךְ פְּעָמָֽיו – “Righteousness will go before him, and He will place it on the way of his steps” (Tehillim 85:14). The Roshei teivos of this possuk allude to the preparations necessary for a trip.
00 – Hisbodedus/Cheshbon HaNefesh are essential before setting out on any major journey.
30 – Purim – Megilas Esther: בַּלַּ֣יְלָה הַה֔וּא נָֽדְדָ֖ה שְׁנַ֣ת הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ – “That night the king’s sleep was disturbed…” (Esther 6:1).
15 – Parshas Massei. אֵ֜לֶּה מַסְעֵ֣י בְנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר יָֽצְא֛וּ מֵאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרַ֖יִם לְצִבְאֹתָ֑ם בְּיַד־משֶׁ֖ה וְאַֽהֲרֹֽן – “These are the journeys of the children of Israel who left the land of Egypt in their legions, under the charge of Moses and Aaron” (Bamidbar 33:1, Massei). The travels of Am Yisrael for 40 years was a result of the sin of the Egel HaZahav
20 – Parshas Ekev. הַמּוֹלִ֨יכְךָ֜ בַּמִּדְבָּ֣ר | הַגָּדֹ֣ל וְהַנּוֹרָ֗א נָחָ֤שׁ | שָׂרָף֙ וְעַקְרָ֔ב – “Who led you through that great and awesome desert, [in which were] snakes, vipers and scorpions…” (Devarim 8:15, Ekev). Throughout their travels, were stepping on/subduing many different types of klipos.
00 – Every place Am Yisrael traveled, they established the Mishkan, thereby elevating the Yiros Nefulos to Daas in that place. This process was repeated again and again, and each time completed a new Kabalas HaTorah.
30 – PARAGRAPH 22. It’s customary to ask rishus – permission – from those present before give a Dvar Torah. Through doing this, all the authorities present are united as one. By means of the merging Torah authorities, Yiras Nefulos are elevated to Daas, which enables a higher level of Torah.
30 – Q&R – Humor expands the consciousness.
10 – PARAGRAPH 23. Buying and selling refines and elevates the fallen sparks of creation.
40 – On Shabbos, all Yiros Nefulos are nullified. Shabbos is perfection of yirah. This is why it’s forbidden to transfer things from one domain to another. All “separate domains” become one, because HaShem removes His “weekday garments” and assumes full, revealed power over all domains.
40 – HALAKHA 4. Hilkhos Harshaah 4 is based on Likutey Moharan 59.
00 – PARAGRAPH 1. The Heichal HaKodesh is built through bringing people who are distant from the Torah into to service of Hashem.
00 – זֹאת יְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם בְּת֥וֹךְ הַגּוֹיִ֖ם שַׂמְתִּ֑יהָ וּסְבִֽיבוֹתֶ֖יהָ אֲרָצֽוֹת – “…’This is Yerushalayim; in the midst of the nations I have placed it, and around it are lands'” (Yechezkel 5:5).
00 – Yeshayah 66. The place of mishpat is the heart. (Likutey Moharan 59:2).
40 – וַֽיהֹוָה לְעוֹלָ֣ם יֵשֵׁ֑ב כּוֹנֵ֖ן לַמִּשְׁפָּ֣ט כִּסְאֽוֹ – “But HaShem shall sit forever; He has established His throne for judgment” (Tehillim 9:8).
00 – Wealth attracts souls.
30 – Closing blessings.
