Geviyas Chov MeyhaYisomim 3 – Parshas Vayelech – Ayeh Makom Kevodo – LaG BeOmer – Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai zal – Chanukah – Rabbi Akiva – Crowns on Letters of the Torah – Students of Rabbi Akiva – Why LaG BeOmer Is a Joyous Day – Speaker: Rabbi Nasan Maimon.
Hilkhos Geviyas Chov MeyhaYisomim 3 is based on 2Likutey Moharan 12 – “Ayeh HaSeh”.
00:00 – PARAGRAPH 19. LaG BeOmer. In the merit of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai zal, Am Yisrael will never forget the Torah completely.
04:00 – NOTE about Chanukah. The lights of the menorah are an aspect of searching for HaShem – “ayeh makom kevodo”.
06:00 – Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai zal was given permission to reveal the secrets of the Torah, especially through the Tikkunei Zohar, which is based on the מאמר סתום – the Hidden Statement of Creation.
11:00 – NOTE – story of Rabbi Yochanan zal and Resh Lakish.
13:00 – NOTE – The “Treasury of Free Gifts” supports the people who are not connected to the Torah.
18:00 – לֹ֥א תִשָּׁכַ֖ח מִפִּ֣י זַרְע֑וֹ – “…for it will not be forgotten from the mouth of their offspring…” (Devarim 31:21, Vayelech).
22:00 – Moshe Rabbeinu was shown the death of Rabbi Akiva zal (Menachos 29). Rabbi Akiva knew the secrets of the crowns on the letters of the Written Torah. These secrets are from the level of “Ayeh”.
***26:00 – Rabbi Akiva tapped into the “original thought” of HaShem, which was to create the world through Midas HaDin. The tzaddikim sometimes choose suffering to protect Am Yisrael.
30:00 – “Respect your friend as you would respect yourself” (Pirkei Avos). Showing respect for a fellow Jew shows respect for HaShem.
33:00 – Am Yisrael’s mission in this world is to honor HaShem in order to reveal His light.
36:00 – Q&R about the death of Rabbi Akiva. He didn’t deserve death, he took it upon himself to take the suffering due Am Yisrael. Last letters of “Elokekha” in the Shema contain the letters ככה through which Am Yisrael’s enemies are struck down. The words “Chanukah” and “Purim” also contain this Name of HaShem.
40:00 – Life is the connection of body and soul. Death means the separation between “ayeh makom kevodo” and מְלֹ֥א כָל־הָאָ֖רֶץ כְּבוֹדֽוֹ – “…the whole earth is filled with His glory” (Yeshaya 6:3). Reference to the Arizal in Pri Etz Chaim.
47:00 – Reference to 2Likutey Moharan 7. The mission of a tzaddik is to leave behind students so he continues to live in this world.
***48:00 – LaG BeOmer is considered a joyous day because every year on that day the soul of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai zal receives new, greater elevation. The higher the tzaddik goes, the more the light of HaShem is revealed in this world.
50:00 – גַּל־עֵינַ֥י וְאַבִּ֑יטָה נִ֜פְלָא֗וֹת מִתּֽוֹרָתֶֽךָ – “Uncover my eyes and I shall look at hidden things from Your Torah” (Tehillim 119:18). “Gahl” alludes to “LaG” beOmer.
51:00 – Closing blessings for Chanukah.
