Geviyas Chov MeyhaYisomim 2 – Parshas Noach – Collecting Debts From Orphans – A Particular Sin Causes Debt – A Debtor Is a Slave – Real Estate Is Collateral – Shvuah – Vows Sustain the World – Speaker: Rabbi Nasan Maimon.
00:00 INTRODUCTION. Hilkhos Geviyas Chov MeyhaYisomim 2 is based on Sichos HaRan 112. There is a particular sin that causes debt, but Rebbe Nachman did not reveal which one it is. A debtor is a slave. “Shibud” means collateral.
03:30 – A loan is connected to the borrower’s real estate, therefore real estate can serve as collateral for a loan.
05:00 – Noach and the curse of his son חם.
6:30 – אֲרוּרָ֤ה הָֽאֲדָמָה֙ בַּֽעֲבוּרֶ֔ךָ בְּעִצָּבוֹן֙ תֹּֽאכֲלֶ֔נָּה כֹּ֖ל יְמֵ֥י חַיֶּֽיךָ – אֲרוּרָ֤ה הָֽאֲדָמָה֙ בַּֽעֲבוּרֶ֔ךָ בְּעִצָּבוֹן֙ תֹּֽאכֲלֶ֔נָּה כֹּ֖ל יְמֵ֥י חַיֶּֽיךָ – “…cursed be the ground for your sake; with toil shall you eat of it all the days of your life” (Bereishis 3:17, Bereishis).
08:00 – Reference to Likutey Moharan 23. Difficulties in parnassah – livelihood – originate from the curse given to Adam HaRishon.
*09:15 – Even though Rebbe Nachman did not reveal which particular sin causes debt, all sins contribute to falling into debt.
21:00 – The lender who claims a niftar owes him money must take an oath in Beis Din.
22:00 – Reference to a sefer that describes each of the sefiros.
***24:30 – Parshas Noach. כִּי־מֵ֥י נֹ֙חַ֙ זֹ֣את לִ֔י אֲשֶׁ֣ר נִשְׁבַּ֗עְתִּי מֵֽעֲבֹ֥ר מֵי־נֹ֛חַ ע֖וֹד עַל־הָאָ֑רֶץ – “For this is to Me [as] the waters of Noach, as I swore that the waters of Noah shall never again pass over the earth…” (Yeshaya 54:9). The world was not going to exist after the flood until HaShem took an oath to continue the world. An oath is associated with life and the existence of the world.
30:00 – Parshas Mattos. A vow is taken “in the Name of the King” – HaShem. A shvuah expresses and activates a deep connection to HaShem – the Source of all life.
32:00 – וְלֹא־יֹ֚אמְרוּ עוֹד֙ חַי־יְהֹוָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֧ר הֶעֱלָ֛ה אֶת־בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל מֵאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם – “…when they shall no longer say, ‘As HaShem lives, Who brought up the children of Israel from the land of Egypt'” but rather they shall say כִּ֣י אִם־חַי־יְהֹוָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר הֶעֱלָה֩ וַֽאֲשֶׁ֨ר הֵבִ֜יא אֶת־זֶ֨רַע בֵּ֚ית יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ מֵאֶ֣רֶץ צָפ֔וֹנָה וּמִכֹּל֙ הָֽאֲרָצ֔וֹת אֲשֶׁ֥ר הִדַּחְתִּ֖ים שָׁ֑ם וְיָֽשְׁב֖וּ עַל־אַדְמָתָֽם – “‘As HaShem lives, Who brought up and led the seed of the House of Israel from the northland and from all the lands where I have driven them, and they shall dwell upon their own soil'” (Yirmiyah 23, 7-8).
33:00 – Closing blessings.
