Gittin 3 – No Leather Shoes on Yom Kippur and Tisha b’AvSekhel HaKollel – Aitza – Doubts – Teshuva – Good Counsel Is Only Found Through Tefilah – Speaker: Rabbi Nasan Maimon.
Hilkhos Gittin 3 is based on Likutey Moharan 61.
00:00 – PARAGRAPH 25. No leather shoes on Yom Kippur and Tisha b’Av. Sekhel HaKollel – doubts – teshuva.
*10:00 – Aitza – resolution of doubt. “Sometimes a person goes to get advice from someone and walks out even more confused than when he went in.”
13:00 – Reference to Sichos HaRan 255. When a person has no idea how to proceed in his life, the first step is to cry out to HaShem to ask for a way to reach aitza tova.
16:00 – מִ֚י זֶ֨ה | מַחְשִׁ֖יךְ עֵצָ֥ה בְמִלִּ֗ין בְּֽלִי־דָֽעַת – “Who is this who gives dark counsel, with words, without knowledge?” (Iyov 38:2).
24:00 – בְּאֹֽרַח־ז֥וּ אֲהַלֵּ֑ךְ טָֽמְנ֖וּ פַ֥ח לִֽי – “…In whichever way I go, they have hidden a snare for me” (Tehillim 142:4).
26:00 – Reference to 2Likutey Moharan 12 – Ayeh.
27:00 – לִבִּ֣י סְ֖חַרְחַר – “My heart is confused…” (Tehillim 38:11).
32:00 – Sincerity is important when seeking advice. NOTE from the biography of Rav Nosson of Nemirov zal. Rav Nosson asked Rebbe Nachman for the emeser emes – the real truth.
38:00 – Q&R about speaking to HaShem when in a natural environment.
***39:00 – Q&R about asking for the tefilos of a tzaddik.
42:00 – Q&R about screaming during tefilah. Screaming out loud may be done only if it will not disturb anyone hearing it. Otherwise, Rebbe Nachman advises silent screaming – that is – crying out to HaShem in a whisper that no one can hear, but with the emotional and physical intensity of a scream. (The silent scream is described in 2Likutey Moharan 5.)
