Speaker: Rabbi Nasan Maimon. This halakha is based on Likutey Moharan 19. The immersion in a mikveh of a vessel used for food, if it was acquired from a non-Jew, even if the vessel was never used by the non-Jew (Bamidbar 31:23 – Parshas Mattos).
01:89 – PARAGRAPH 1.
02:44 – Reference to Likutey Moharan 23 – all avoda zara is rooted in teyvos mamon.
03:55 – Reference to Likutei Moharan 23 which explains the connection between cleansing from sin and freeing oneself from unconstrained desire for wealth, based on the words וַיִּ֖חַן אֶת־פְּנֵ֥י הָעִֽיר (Bereishis 33:18, Parshas VaYishlach).
*06:28 – The two faces of money: a face of light or a face of darkness.
08:37 – When a person is steeped in desire for wealth, his face becomes dark.
09:27 – The correspondence between money and vessels used for food.
10:38 – The seven types of metal correspond to the seven lights of the face, which are aspects of the menorah and the seven midos of consciousness. (See Likutey Moharan 21 for more about this.)
13:57 – Immersion in a mikveh restores the light of the face, because mikveh is an aspect of daas (Torah wisdom).
19:24 – Mikveh is an essential part of the teshuvah process.
20:53 – PARAGRAPH 2.
24:35 – Earning a livelihood is twice as difficult as giving birth. (Reference to Likutey Moharan 23.)
29:19 – PARAGRAPH 3.
26:01 – Just as a nidah requires tevilah, so does a vessel used for food. Both types of impurity originated through the sin of Adam HaRishon. “And a river went out to water the garden” (Bereishis).
28:19 – QUESTION and RESPONSE about dam niddah. “Respect your wife so that you will become wealthy” (Bava Metzia 59a)
29:19 – PARAGRAPH 3. A vessel is made kosher through the means it became non-kosher. Likewise, a person who wants to return to Hashem is tested through challenges in which he originally failed.
34:21 – The spiritual aspects of metal vessels vs. those of earthenware vessels. Earthenware don’t require immersion in a mikveh.
42:06 – A sword used to kill a person is a source of impurity. The stones of the Beis HaMikdash had to be formed without metal tools.
43:24 – QUESTION and RESPONSE about the Jewish soul being compared to a vessel made of metal.
44:11 – QUESTION and RESPONSE about immersing glass vessels in a mikveh.
44:48 – Closing blessings and note about the six days following Shavuos.
