Nasso – The Power of Shame – How is the procedure of Sotah relevant today? Clip from a shiur given on 2018-05-21 at the Shaarei Chesed Breslov Shul. Based on: Likutey Halakhos, Orach Chaim 2, Hilkhos Birkhas HaPeyros 5:15. Speaker: Rabbi Nasan Maimon.
*00:00 – The mitzvah of Sotah – the procedure to determine if a husband and wife need to divorce. If a woman confesses, this atones for her actions. “When a person feels sincere shame, Hashem forgives all of their sins.”
05:40 – Making a vow: “Life and death are in the power of speech.”
18:00 – Making and then immediately fulfilling a vow can strengthen emunas chochomim.
*21:00 – The princes of the twelve tribes brought wagons to carry the vessels of the Mishkan. Who told them to do that? The principle of “You are as beautiful as you want to be.” When a person really wants to come close to Hashem, he will find hints in the words of the tzaddikim to help him find his own special way.
24:21 – Birkhas Kohanim and the protection of wealth.
26:27 – The account from the Zohar HaKodesh about when Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai and Rabbi Elazar saw a dark angel – a force of destruction. Rabbi Shimon confronted it and dispelled the negative decree of Hashem with the power of a tzaddik’s speech.
