00:00 – The 9th of Elul is the yahrzeit of Rav Tzadok HaKohen Rabinowitz of Lublin, author of Pri Tzadik, Resisei Layla, and other works (1823-1900). His father , Rav Yaakov HaKohen, was the Rav of Kreisberg. Rav Tzadik HaKohen became a chasid of the Izbitscher Rebbe and was a close friend of Rav Yehuda Leib Eiger. When Rav Eiger passed away in 1888, Rav Tzadok HaKohen agreed to assume leadership of the chasidic community. He was a prolific writer of many Torah innovations as well as scholarly essays on astronomy, geometry, and algebra.
