Sichos HaRan 12 – Any effort made to serve Hashem sincerely, even if it doesn’t succeed, still accomplishes a lot. The most frustrated attempts at tefilah or mitzvos bring good into the world. The effort itself is like giving a sacrifice in the Beis HaMikdash – Holy Temple, as in “For you sake we are killed all day, we are regarded as sheep for the slaughter” (Tehillim 44:23)
