Ein YaakovPesachim – Seven Secrets of the Universe – Baruch Shem Kevod – Life After the Final Redemption – Service of the Kohen GadolBeit HaMikdash – Holy Temple in Jerusalem – Remembering a Forgotten Halakha – Anger Causes Forgetfulness – Speaker: Rabbi Zvi Aryeh Rosenfeld zal. (ey-018. Recorded 1971-01.)
00:00 – HaShem keeps seven secrets hidden from people so they can function in the world: 1) the day of death, 2) the day of the final redemption, 3) the reason for a mitzvah, 4) the profitability of merchandise, 5) the thoughts of another person, 6) when Malkhus Beis Dovid – the sovereignty of King David – will be restored, and 7) when the reign of evil will cease.
06:45 – Three things were created by HaShem to ensure that life can proceed: the odor of a decaying body, the ability to eventually forget the dead, and the spoilage of food. Some say that belief in money as legal tender is also in this category of creation.
08:26 – When Yaakov Avinu wanted to reveal the secret of the exact time of Moshiach’s arrival this information was suddenly withheld from him. How the words of “Shema Yisrael” should be recited.
*10:57 – An allegory about a princess explains why we say the words “Baruch Shem Kevod Malchuso LeOlam Va’ed” quietly.
*13:26 – The Name of HaShem can only be said after two or more words are spoken.

16:09 – At the time of the Second Beit HaMikdash – Holy Temple – the Kohen Gadol’s span of service was only about one year while in the First Beit HaMikdash it was longer. Accounts describing different Kohanim Gedolim who served faithfully or not, including an instance of a Kohen who wore gloves and was punished severely by HaShem.
21:00 – When the chief rabbis forgot a law regarding Korban Pesach, Hillel HaZaken reminded them and was then appointed head of the Sanhedrin. Description of an instance when a halakha was forgotten by the rabbis and verified through observing the custom of Am Yisrael.
25:16 – A conceited person will lose his wisdom. If he is a prophet, he will lose his prophecy. For example, Hillel forgot a halakha immediately after rebuking the Sanhedrin, and Devorah HaNeviya was told to “rise and sing”, implying that she had fallen by speaking to Am Yisrael in a way that seemed haughty.
27:14 – A person who becomes angry loses his wisdom. A prophet who becomes angry loses his prophecy. For example, at one point Moshe Rabbeinu was unable to state a Torah law because he had been angered, and after speaking a word of anger Elisha HaNavi asked to hear music so his power of prophecy could be restored.
29:26 – What life will be like after the final redemption. The sun and the moon will function differently than they do now.
32:57 – In contrast to the Zohar HaKadosh and opinions cited in the Gemara, Shmuel maintains that life will remain the same after the final redemption with only one major difference: Am Yisrael will no longer be subservient to other nations because it will reign over a peaceful world.
42:00 – A foundation of emunah – Jewish faith – is that HaShem will bring the dead back to life and that techiyat hameytim is in the Written Torah.
